February is Black History Month

Check out the events commemorating and celebrating February 2007 as Black History Month.

Keep an eye out around Kingston for Black History Month guides or download an event list.

Black History Month was officially recognized by the Canadian Parliament in December 1995 to raise awareness about the contributions of African Canadians, past and present. Each year, Black History Month Kingston (BHM Kingston), a joint project of the Ontario Public Interest Research Group (OPIRG) and the Human Rights Office, organizes a host of events for the Queen’s and Kingston community. This year’s committee has participation from Queen’s faculty, students and staff and local community organizations.
