When middle-aged Jane Hawkins (Dreya Weber), married and unhappy, steps into a gym for the first time since the accident that crippled her career, she is convinced to begin training for a dramatic and sensual Cirque Du Soleil style aerial show. Her partner, the talented and beautiful dancer Serena (Addie Yungmee), captures Jane’s imagination. While Jane deals with her increasingly unhappy marriage, Serena struggles with coming out to her adoptive parents. As their feelings for each other reach new levels of intensity, so too does their performance. The Gymnast’s director, Ned Farr has created a visually and emotionally stunning, acrobatically impressive film, which gives us a beautiful and majestic look into the world of his characters. Above all, The Gymnast is about being true to yourself and having the courage to chase your dreams.
