This multi disciplinary conference will address important issues faced by both local and global communities. This year a wide range of panel topics have been included: Freedom from Fear: The Promises of Human Security, Race Against Time: The Global AIDS Crisis, Global Crossing: Trends in Migration, The Future of Development: Omitted and Invisible Children, Direct Action: A Real threat to Globalization?, Freedom of Information: The Medias Role in Development , Aboriginal Struggle: Land, Autonomy and Recognition, Free or Fair: The Implications of Transnational Trade, Securing the Future: The Importance of Sustainable Development, Access to Healthcare: A Public Private Debate.
By opening dialogue, the goal is for each of the delegates to gain insight and perspective about the successes and challenges in development today.
There will be over 30 speakers, including 2 Keynotes including an address by Major Brent Beardsley; Former Operations Manager for fellow Canadian Lieutenant-General Romeo Dallaire in Rwanda.
IDCs Delegate Fee of $70 includes: 2 Workshops (allow delegates to participate in smaller group discussions on select topics and learn different ways to apply knowledge and ideas into practical and unique projects), tickets to Time to Laugh Comedy Club Friday night, 5 meals: breakfast and lunch on Saturday and Sunday, a 3 course catered dinner at the Queens University Club. Payments can be made in cash or cheque made out to Queen’s International Development Conference.
