Forum Theatre Workshop - Homophobia and Heterosexism
WHAT: Forum Theatre Workshop - Homophobia and Heterosexism
WHEN: Wednesday, March 7, 2007 — 4:00 - 5:30 p.m.
WHERE: Robert Sutherland Room, JDUC, Queen’s University
Hoping to extend the discussions started in Positive Space program information sessions, the Positive Space Committee is holding a FORUM THEATRE WORKSHOP at part of Queen’s inaugural Pride Week. Forum theatre, initiated as a political improvisation exercise in South American in the 1970s, encourages participants to ‘rehearse for revolution,’ or, in this case, to develop effective and original strategies to help deal with common encounters with homophobia and heterosexism. In small groups, we’ll be staging scenes on homophobia or heterosexist attitudes and inviting attendees to participate in rewriting and rehearsing the scene to eliminate the oppression initially presented.
The event is open to all Positive Space Program participants - or those interested in attending a Positive Space Program training session in the future.
