WPIRG Summer Job - Carfree Day Coordinator
Sustainable Transportation Festival Coordinator
13 weeks, from June 5th through August 31st
30 hours/week at $10/hour

Organization: WPIRG is a student funded and directed environmental and social justice organization based at the University of Waterloo.
Background: Carfree day is an international celebration of
sustainable transportation and healthy community living. Since 2000, communities around the world have been celebrating Car Free Day on September 22. In celebration of Carfree Day volunteers at WPIRG have been organizing the Local Motion Sustainable Transportation festival in Waterloo Region since 2003, with displays, presentations, workshops and family-friendly activities.
Duties: Under the direction of the festival organizing committee, this position will be responsible for planning and promoting the
festival, including recruiting and coordinating volunteers, contacting and booking presenters and performers, planning festival activities, and writing and designing promotional materials. Other tasks as required.

Eligibility:
This position is made possible by funding under the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) initiative. Applicants must be students meeting the following criteria:
- be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusively) at the start of the
employment;
- have been registered as a full-time student in the previous
academic year, and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in
the next academic year;
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person on whom refugee
protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee
Protection Act; and,
- be legally entitled to work according to relevant provincial
legislation and regulations;
