Islamophobia Forum: Nov 21st, 7pm
Islamophobia is an increasingly “accepted” form of discrimination against Islam and Muslims. Since the crimes committed on September 11, 2001, this type of racism has increased internationally. The movement by members of the federal Conservative governments to force Muslim women to reveal their faces in order to vote is one of the most recent assaults on religious freedoms in Canada. Muslim students and faculty on campuses throughout North America and Europe have been targeted by this racial prejudice.
A forum hosted by numerous campus groups will shed light on what Islamophobia is and what can be done to fight it. Speakers include: Margaret Pappano, Audrey Kobayashi, Sylvat Aziz, Abigail Bakan, and Ishraq Alim. All are welcome.
