Transgender Day of Remembrance, Tues Nov 20th, 5pm
TRANSGENDER DAY OF REMEMBRANCE (DOR) Tuesday, November 20, 5-6 pm, Dunning 14
Every year since 1999, people in cities world-wide gather together to draw attention to the problem of anti-transgender violence and murder. Queen’s equip (education on queer issues project) is organizing this year’s TRANSGENDER DAY OF REMEMBRANCE (DOR). It’s a day to mourn our losses for those who have been killed because of their gender variance.
The speaker, Julian Gregory, will touch upon this, as well as what it means to be gendered - variant or not. The talk will be between 30 and 40, minutes, with a discussion after. At 6:00pm a candle light vigil will be held behind Mac-Corry - between Mac-Corry and the music building. After the vigil, all are welcome to attend the coffeehouse (fundraiser) for Queen’s Women Empowerment Committee at 7:30 pm at the Tea Room (Union and Division). It runs until 10:30 pm.We hope you will join us!
