JOB POSTING: FESTIVAL DIRECTOR
reelout, Kingston’s annual not for profit queer film + video festival, is
seeking a Festival Director to oversee the coordination of our 10th annual
festival and the general administration of the organization.
THE POSITION
The Festival Director is responsible for ensuring the continued success of
the reelout queer film + video festival, which is currently entering its
10th year of operation. The Director’s duties include:
- Festival and event coordination
- Volunteer coordination
- Supervision of seasonal staff and other contract workers
- Strategic planning with the reelout Board and Collective
- Public and community relations
- Fundraising including donor and corporate sponsor relations
- General organizational administration including budget monitoring -
Management of the festival office
- Content development for the festival website and programme guide
The Director will work in collaboration with the reelout collective, board
and staff to carry out these duties. Ultimately, the Festival Director
takes a leadership role in ensuring that reelout’s annual queer film +
video festival runs smoothly and maintains its place as one of the premier
cultural events in the city of Kingston.
ASSETS AND QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will have:
- Experience navigating the complex world of arts presentation activities
- A passion for film + video
- Excellent organizational and administrative skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with public speaking
- An ability to multi-task
- Good interpersonal communication skills
- The ability to inspire confidence and enthusiasm in staff and volunteers
- Some experience in a leadership or management role
- A commitment to queer and trans communities
Demonstrated success in securing funding from charitable foundations, arts
councils and the business community is an asset.
RENUMERATION
Contract position from June 2008 - April 2009, 20$ per hour at 22 hours
per week.
