<strong><a href="http://opirgkingston.org/lovingspoonful/">Loving Spoonful</a> </strong>is a collaborative initiative of Ontario Public Interest Research Group Kingston, The Partners in Mission Foodbank, the Justice and Peace Office of The Sisters of Providence of St. Vincent de Paul and the National Farmer’s Union Local 316. We will be recovering surplus perishable food from grocers, restaurants and farmers to be used in meal programs and other community agencies. The project will combine food reclamation with support for local, sustainably produced food in Kingston. This position is hosted by OPIRG Kingston.</p>

<p>reelout, Kingston’s annual not for profit queer film + video festival, is<br />
seeking a Festival Director to oversee the coordination of our 10th annual<br />
festival and the general administration of the organization.</p>
<p>THE POSITION</p>
<p>The Festival Director is responsible for ensuring the continued success of<br />
the reelout queer film + video festival, which is currently entering its<br />
10th year of operation. The Director’s duties include:</p>
<p>- Festival and event coordination<br />
- Volunteer coordination<br />
- Supervision of seasonal staff and other contract workers<br />
- Strategic planning with the reelout Board and Collective<br />
- Public and community relations<br />
- Fundraising including donor and corporate sponsor relations<br />
- General organizational administration including budget monitoring -<br />
Management of the festival office<br />
- Content development for the festival website and programme guide</p>
<p>The Director will work in collaboration with the reelout collective, board<br />
and staff to carry out these duties. Ultimately, the Festival Director<br />
takes a leadership role in ensuring that reelout’s annual queer film +<br />
video festival runs smoothly and maintains its place as one of the premier<br />
cultural events in the city of Kingston.</p>
<p>ASSETS AND QUALIFICATIONS</p>
<p>The successful candidate will have:</p>
<p>- Experience navigating the complex world of arts presentation activities<br />
- A passion for film + video<br />
- Excellent organizational and administrative skills<br />
- Strong written and verbal communication skills<br />
- Experience with public speaking<br />
- An ability to multi-task<br />
- Good interpersonal communication skills<br />
- The ability to inspire confidence and enthusiasm in staff and volunteers<br />
- Some experience in a leadership or management role<br />
- A commitment to queer and trans communities</p>
<p>Demonstrated success in securing funding from charitable foundations, arts<br />
councils and the business community is an asset.</p>
<p>RENUMERATION</p>
<p>Contract position from June 2008 - April 2009, 20$ per hour at 22 hours<br />
per week.</p>

<p>OPIRG Kingston, the National Farmer&#8217;s Union Local 316, The Partners in Mission Food Bank and The Sisters of Providence are working on a Cooperative Food Distribution Initiative. We aim to develop a system for reclaiming fresh produce headed for the waste stream in local restaurants, grocers and institutions.  This produce will supply existing food providers/meal programs.  Our local innovation will be to simultaneously distribute sustainably grown local food, bought at fair prices from local farmers, to the same restaurants, grocers and institutions, as a fundraising activity for the reclamation program.  </p>
<p>We are hiring a Coordinator for a 45 week contract to start January 28th, 2008. The position will be $21/hr at 23hrs/wk. The CFDI Coordinator will conduct a Feasibility and Development Study, conduct a Pilot of the program and more. </p>

<p>The Waterloo Public Interest Research Group (WPIRG), a student funded and directed organization that provides support for students to research, educate, and take action on environmental and social justice issues, is currently seeking a Coordinator of Programming and Volunteer Support. This is a permanent full time position with a 6 month probationary period; 40 hours per week at a rate of $18.42 per hour, with extended benefits. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Researcher/Archivist will further plan and establish the People’s History Project (PHP), which began a few years ago.  The Researcher/Archivist will be responsible for the research and archival process, long-term planning, budgeting, promotions and coordination of the project.  Research will entail interviews, use of local libraries and archives, web research, and finding, using and archiving people’s personal documents. She/he will be supervised by the OPIRG Coordinator and is responsible to OPIRG’s membership through the OPIRG Board of Directors.   </p>

<p><strong>Organization:</strong>   WPIRG is a student funded and directed environmental and social justice organization based at the University of Waterloo.</p>
<p><strong>Background:</strong>  WPIRG views human rights as one the integral values of the organization, and recognizes the need for increased awareness and<br />
discussion of their global and domestic importance.  In an effort to facilitate this, WPIRG has begun an annual Human Rights Conference at the University of Waterloo.  The first of these was well received and WPIRG would like to follow its success with a conference of greater outreach and dialogue.</p>
<p><strong>Duties: </strong> Under the direction of the conference organizing committee, this position will be responsible for the development, planning and<br />
promotion of the Human Rights Conference for autumn 2007.  These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, researching conference focus areas, soliciting participation from specialists in these focus areas, recruiting and managing volunteers, planning the outline of the event and writing and designing promotional materials. Other tasks as required.</p>

Eligibility:</strong> this position is made possible by funding under the<br />
Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) initiative. Applicants must be students<br />
meeting the following criteria:<br />
- be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusively) at the start of the<br />
employment;<br />
- have been registered as a full-time student in the previous<br />
academic year, and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in<br />
the next academic year;<br />
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person on whom refugee<br />
protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee<br />
Protection Act; and,<br />
- be legally entitled to work according to relevant provincial<br />
legislation and regulations;<br />
