mycelium Network Kingston

Mental health and wellness peer support by trans folks, for trans folks.

What is The Mycelium Network?

Mycelium Network Kingston is a mental health peer support and mutual aid group for transgender, non-binary, two-spirit and gender diverse adults in the Kingston, Ontario area. In-person group meetings are held monthly at AKA Autonomous Social Centre.

Who can attend?

Mycelium Network Kingston is open to all trans, non-binary, two-spirit, and gender diverse adults in the Kingston area. Group meetings are not intended for cisgender loved ones and allies. Supportive persons can accompany group members at the prior approval of the group.

Why Mycelium?

In the natural world, mycelium is a root-like structure resembling threads that make up an intertwining network of fungi. Mycelium collects nutrients and helps break down organic material in the soil.

Our Mycelium Network takes its name from this nourishing and vital connection. We believe that connecting and supporting our community helps benefit all of our mental health and wellness.

How is it run?

Mycelium Network Kingston is facilitated by gender-diverse community members. The network is grassroots, volunteer-run, and supported by TransFamily Kingston and OPIRG Kingston. We work on the models of peer support, mutual aid, and radical mental health. We are non-clinical, non-rescue, and make no presumptions of illness.

Mycelium Network does not:

  • Offer crisis services
  • Provide medical treatment
